Keats has
been owned and run by Daverio and Helen for over twenty years along
with key members of loyal staff, Donato, Pepe and Martin, who have
served with them. Many clients have also consistently patronised
the restaurant over this period and this is one of the factors that
contribute to the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
Originally from Forli,
Emiglia Romagna, in the north of Italy, Daverio practices the sort
of hospitality that is the natural instinct of the people from his
part of the world. The building dates from 1960 when it was built
on the site of the “Old Thatches”, which was lost to fire
in 1959. The “Thatches” had long been part of village
life in Ampfield and served mainly passing trade on what used to
be the main road to the west.

The present building
provides ideal accommodation for the intimate atmosphere of Keats,
while also having the versatility to cater for parties and functions.
The food is of course of paramount importance and the high standards
are a source of pride to all the staff. The menu comprises a wide
variety of dishes including steaks and veal all cooked with bespoke
sauces, freshly made pasta dishes, duck and chicken and a comprehensive
variety of fish. With a selection of vegetarian meals and the flexibility
to prepare individual dishes for special diets, there should be
something to satisfy everyone’s taste.
The influence of Italian
flavours in the food are complimented by a wine list that offers
fine Italian wines, but not to the exclusion of an excellent selection
of wine from France and further afield.
Naturally the service
is a match for the pleasures of the pallet and is provided by experienced
professionals. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and we hope
that our customers feel at home whether it is their first visit
or have known us for many years.

So whether it be for
a simple lunch, an evening meal, a Christmas party or a celebration
of a special occasion, we will endeavour to make your visit a pleasurable
experience.
If you wish to make a
booking or would like to discuss a function, you can contact Daverio

It is recommended
that you book well in advance for evening meals at week-ends.
